As we close out another year and embrace the start of 2025, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the significant progress our association and industry have made, and to look ahead to the opportunities that lie before us.
The past year has been one of growth, collaboration, and innovation. Across Canada, we’ve witnessed a renewed commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, driven by government policy, corporate initiatives, and societal awareness of a potential climate crisis. Our industry continues to play a vital role in supporting these efforts by raising awareness and providing mechanical insulation systems that reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
At TIAC, we have been working hard to advocate for the importance of our industry. This includes ongoing efforts to educate decision-makers, stakeholders, and the public about the value of proper insulation and its economic and environmental benefits. As Tristan Bertram mentioned in his article (see page 6), working with government representatives has helped ensure that thermal insulation remains a priority in building codes, energy policies, and funding programs across the country.
Looking ahead, 2025 presents a variety of opportunities and challenges for our industry. The rise of net-zero targets, advancements in insulation technology, and an increased focus on mechanical insulation within the construction industry create exciting new possibilities for growth. At the same time, we must address challenges such as labour shortages, supply chain disruptions, and the need for continued advocacy to keep our industry at the forefront of energy efficiency solutions.
To tackle these issues, TIAC will remain focused on its core objectives: education, advocacy, and collaboration. We are strengthening our relationships with government bodies and allied industries, expanding our outreach to ensure that insulation is recognized as a critical component of Canada’s energy strategy, and providing our members with the tools and resources they need to succeed in a competitive marketplace.
As always, none of this would be possible without the dedication and support of our members. Your expertise, innovation, and commitment drive this industry forward, and I am honoured to serve as your president. Together, we are making a meaningful impact on the environment, the economy, and the communities we serve.
I encourage all members to stay engaged with TIAC’s initiatives and take full advantage of our resources. Whether you attend our events, participate in committees, or share your insights and experiences, your involvement is critical to the continued success of our association and industry.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I look forward to working with all of you in the coming year to advance our shared goals and strengthen the role of thermal insulation in Canada.
Wishing you and your families a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2025. ▪
