Considering TIAC’s call “to embrace spring as a symbol of our own growth and renewal,” I am happy to share some recent updates, developments, and progress that reflect TIAC’s flourishing efforts.

During our board meeting in February, I had the privilege of presenting TIAC’s strategic plan, which was developed in collaboration with our executive team. This plan sets the foundation for advancing the mechanical insulation industry and promoting sustainability without compromising Canadian industries or economy. Within this plan, three key focus areas emerged:

  • Improving mechanical insulation standards in new construction projects.
  • Decarbonizing existing mechanical systems.
  • Prioritizing broad excellence and strategic enhancement to increase member value.

Each focus area has been broken down into several key elements, aligning with our guiding principles and ultimately ensuring we amplify our impact on reducing carbon emissions and contributing to a healthier, more efficient world. I am thrilled to be a part of this community during a time of such growth and vibrance. I believe our board of directors has done an incredible job sparking inspiration, driving alignment, and identifying our path forward to achieving our collective vision. Building upon our president’s call to embrace spring as a metaphor (see page 4), I can’t help but view this strategic plan as the seed freshly planted, ready to grow our community’s value and prosperity. Okay, that’s the last spring metaphor you’ll have to suffer through, I promise!

Along with our new strategic plan, I am excited to share that I’ve taken on the role of chairperson for TIAC’s Membership Committee. This decision was made with guidance from the previous chair, Steve Huculiak, and TIAC’s board, as it aligns perfectly with my responsibilities as Director of Industry Affairs. First and foremost, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Steve for his dedication and hard work with the Membership Committee. His invaluable contributions have laid a strong foundation over the years, and I am genuinely grateful for his efforts. I encourage you to take a moment to reach out to Steve and express your gratitude for his contributions to TIAC. Because of individuals like him, we can continue delivering value to our members, ultimately fulfilling TIAC’s purpose of continually forging, supporting, and promoting a community of experts rallied around advancing the thermal insulation industry.

The Membership Committee’s objective is to enhance the value proposition for current members while attracting new ones, fostering a vibrant and engaged community. The committee aims to ensure that TIAC remains a sought-after destination for industry professionals seeking collaboration, support, networking, and professional development opportunities. The committee, with the help of Steve, Robin Baldwin, and the sectional chairs, has developed several new member packages designed to increase collaboration and communication between TIAC and its members.

One package I am particularly excited to share with you is the Annual Contractor Kit (see page 16), which will be shared with all provincial associations and passed along to their contractor members. Keep an eye out for this comprehensive kit, filled with valuable information and resources to keep you informed and connected to our community.

We are actively seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join the Membership Committee. Whether you’re a seasoned TIAC member or new to the association, we welcome your participation. Encourage your team members to get involved or consider joining yourself! Use the QR code below or contact me directly to apply for the Membxership Committee or another TIAC committee.

A significant focus of the Membership Committee is collaborating with the Conference Committee to create valuable and engaging conferences for TIAC’s members, with the aim of fostering a greater sense of unity, purpose, and direction. I am excited that the conference planners have incorporated the Contractor Excellence Awards into this year’s event. Don’t wait to submit one of your projects for consideration have the chance to receive an award that will further your company’s pursuit of excellence… and earn you some well-deserved bragging rights!

I look forward to seeing you all in beautiful St. John’s and proudly displaying the project submissions we receive. Please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime—I am always happy to help with anything I can. ▪
