The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) celebrated the best projects, people and organizations of the previous year at the 2016 Canadian Construction Awards, held March 22 at the CCA’s annual conference in Mexico.
Paul Douglas of PCL Construction won the Person of the Year Award. He started with the company as a construction manager in 1985 and was appointed CEO in 2009. He was also appointed by former Prime Minister Stephen Harper to the High Level Panel on Infrastructure Development and to the Business Council of Canada in 2015. Recently he was named to the Alberta Business Hall of Fame.
PCL Construction also won the Environmental Achievement Award for their work on the Jim Pattison Centre for Excellence project at Okanagan College in BC The building was designed to meet LEED Platinum standards and was part of the Living Building Challenge. The facility is an educational centre for tradespeople and part of the building such as the HVAC system are exposed to encourage learning. read more >>
