NIAGARA — In the 30 years he worked as a stationary engineer in the boiler room at General Motors, Rene Guay said her dad John had no idea that with every breath he took he might have been inhaling tiny particles he couldn’t even see.
He had no way of knowing those particles — asbestos fibres — would kill him.
Guay, a health and safety advocate who joined Niagara Regional Labour Council vice-president Chris Grawey in calling for regional politicians to support a comprehensive ban on imported products containing asbestos, said the mesothelioma her dad was diagnosed with in 2011 quickly ate away at him. read more >>
