Christopher Bernard is freshly married and ready to get back into the construction business.
Helping him with the many certifications and training programs the industry requires is the Alberta Aboriginal Construction Career Centre at NorQuest College. The program aims to connect aboriginal workers with employers in the construction industry.
Bernard said construction work gives him a sense of pride that’s tough to find in other industries. He likes to walk around downtown Edmonton with his eldest daughter and point out the Epcor Tower and Icon 1 and Icon 2 buildings, where he worked on the rebar.
The centre has been instrumental in helping him do that work again, Bernard said. read more >>
