BCICA Golf Tournament a Huge Success

golf4This year, for the second time, the BCICA held our third annual golf tournament at King’s Links by the Sea. With great weather and a good turnout of 90 golfers, it ensured fun for all. As King’s Links is a challenging course, loss of balls became another thing to count, creating lots of laughs and some frustrations for those more serious golfers. We had fabulous support for our fundraising activities such as 50/50 draws, long drive, and closest to the pin to name a few, and would especially like to thank Jim Blair and Joe Ceraldi who donated back their winnings to the cause.

I would personally like to thank the people that make this tournament happen: Steve Quinn, Dave Novak, Barbara Stafford, Christine Novak, and Judy Pachon, and a special thanks to Chris Ishkanian for all his help in setting up the fund society. We had many personal, business, and union donations, with the largest coming from the Thermal Insulation Association of Alberta, with their donation of a staggering $50,000 presented by TIAA board members Dan Gagne (centre) and Ron Richards (right), bringing our total raised to date to $99,130. We will now be able to move forward and start working with these funds. Mark Trevors, Murray Wedhorn, and myself have joined forces to start working towards our goals. The money collected will be spent on either pre-screening with CAT scans, or developing a new blood test for mesothelioma research. We will keep you posted. Thank you again for your continued support of this worthwhile cause, and we look forward to bigger and better things next year to keep our tradespeople safe.

Thanks to all,

Andre Pachon
