Working Hard for Members

As the days start to get longer and the weather gets warmer, people are emerging from hibernation and getting into their “new” normal groove. The same goes for TIAC. Just back from our spring meeting in Ottawa, it was so great to have that feeling of camaraderie. The passion that this group has for TIAC is outstanding.

The entire board has been extremely busy planning our 60th Annual Conference, putting webinars together, launching the TIAC-endorsed North American Commercial and Industrial Insulation Standards (NACIIS) manual, and other tasks to make this industry the best it can be.

The Innovators have done a tremendous job getting the NACIIS manual agreement finalized and TIAC’s promotion ready for release. TIAC has bought a copy for every member, and we are working on getting the manual translated for our friends in Quebec. If you have not requested your copy of the manual yet, please contact TIAC’s head office (info@tiac.ca) to get your token to either download a soft copy instantly or order a hard copy to have on hand. If you’ve gotten your manual, a survey has been sent to you and we ask that you take a few minutes to fill it out so we can get a better understanding of what our members think of the new manual.

The Innovators have also organized a webinar where Peter Gauchel, Chairman of the NACIIS Committee, presented an  overview of the manual. I invite anyone who missed it to watch the recording, which is available on the TIAC website.

The Innovators are working with a team of TIAA members to do a re-vamp of the Denis Formula. This is an initiative that the Board has prioritized, and a status update will be presented at the conference in August.

Our friends in Quebec have been working tremendously hard on creating the basis for a QAC program for TIAC, which they will be implementing into their insulation works as soon as it is complete. They are planning to have the first inspector training course as soon as September of this year and hope to have their first contract using the QAC program by December.

TIAC has also revived the job posting for our Technical Initiative and Strategic Relationship Coordinator. If you or someone you know may have what it takes, please let us know. The full job description is available on our website.

Our 60th Anniversary Conference is coming up, August 17-20, 2022, in our beautiful nation’s capital, Ottawa. We have some very interesting speakers lined up for your entertainment and education. The golf tournament is back on the schedule, and we have planned a number of activities for spouses and kids that will give them an opportunity to get outside and see the city. The entire team has been working hard on getting you the best sessions and the most fun we can.

We have also added a training opportunity to the conference. Similar to the IEAP training offered at past conferences, TIAC is hosting NIA’s Thermal Insulation Inspector Certification course. This is a great opportunity for any companies out there that have junior people working for them, or for those who have not worked in the trade and would like to get the knowledge of how insulation is supposed to be installed properly, while also getting a certificate to inspect insulation installs.

Since we will be in Canada’s capital and it’s our anniversary, the President’s Ball will be a black-tie affair. Who doesn’t like getting dressed up?

I hope to see you all there!  ▪
